Lane County has adopted a multiphase approach to addressing the climate crisis. Phase one was to develop an internal climate action plan (completed October 2020). Phase two and three include conducting a county-wide greenhouse gas mitigation plan (draft anticipated by November 2021) and resilience and adaptation plan (anticipated by the end of 2022).. Mark Nystrom, the Climate Strategist for Lane County will discuss the current state of the plan and the next upcoming steps.
Mark lives in Eugene with his wife Stephanie and his dog Juniper. His son Sam is a freshman at Colorado College. Mark enjoys running, hiking, and mountain biking in his spare time. Mark is also an occasional instructor at the School of PPPM at the University of Oregon.
